TIER 5 VISAS REPLACED BY YOUTH MOBILITY VISA SCHEME UK (YMS VISAS)

This scheme will provide an exciting opportunity for young people to live and work in the UK for a maximum of two years. Arrangements have been put in place by the UK Government and the following countries:

How to Apply for the UK’s Youth Mobility Visa:

You will be eligible to apply for the YMS Visa if you are aged between 18 and 30 years and a rightful citizen of any of the countries listed above. In addition you will have to satisfy the Maintenance Fund requirement whereby a minimum of £1,890 in savings should be held continuously for 3 months before you make an application.

Applications will also be possible for individuals who are a British Overseas Citizen, British Overseas Territories Citizen or British National (Overseas).

According to the UK Government, the Youth Mobility Scheme will bring an abundance of opportunities and encourage cultural exchange between participating countries.

Opportunities whilst under the scheme include experiencing what life is like in the UK, acquiring valuable work experience for up to two years and being able to study in the UK.

Similarly to the benefits reaped from young overseas citizens, this is a reciprocal scheme which offers young British citizens the opportunity to benefit too.

Restrictions & Other Conditions:

There are limitations in place that will prevent certain individuals joining this scheme. These include current employment as a a professional sportsperson, a doctor or a dentist in training. You also are not permitted to bring family members to the UK as dependants under this scheme.
